Could now be the time to specify more plants than ever into office interiors?
The benefits of including plants in office interiors has been known for a long time as part of biophillic design principles to ensure that urban buildings feel more human.
Biophilia is the word used to describe our innate desire as humans to connect with nature. In harsh urban environments incorporating a range of design measures to enhance biophilia is a smart move – with substantial data citing improved productivity and mental health in office workers where plants and other biophilic design principles are applied. So substantial is the data that benchmark standards can be applied such as the Well Certification which certifies a buildings ‘health’ including biophilic design principles.
Live plants including Epipremnum Aureum have been included in the interior planting scheme here on shelf partitions which create natural screens in this large office space.
Planting for shared breakout spaces
The shared spaces in the centre of this office development cleverly use screening which has been adorned with faux plants and a suspended ceiling, again enhanced with greenery to create a sense of place, reduce acoustics and inject green into the area.
The options for incorporating plants into offices are no longer limited to traditional planted combinations. The Pritchard and Pritchard team can also install living walls full of live plants into the office space should floor space be limited. Ideal for a true wow factor in any building.
