Why World Green Roof Day?
Towns and cities globally are going green to adapt to climate change. Green roofs also provide vital wildlife habitat and make life better for everyone.
As installers of all types of Green Roofs the Pritchard and Pritchard team whole-heartedly support this initiative, which is in essence a celebration of green roofs all over the world and the many benefits they bring to people and nature.
Climate change is real and improving our cities to mitigate the harsh effects delivered by climate change is where all types of green roof play a part.

World Green Roof Day
World Green Roof Day was founded in February 2020 by Chris Bridgman and Dusty Gedge and has gone from strength to strength during its short lifetime. 2022 promises to deliver an even larger presence across social media, further raising awareness of the benefits of green roofs for sustainability of biodiversity and health in cities.
Coinciding with the first #WGRD The Green Roof Organisation GRO was officially launched on 6th June 2020. GRO was founded in 2009 as a Special Interest Group, but has now become a full Trade Association and not-for-profit legal entity in the UK.
GRO has appointed a 12-person board which includes James Beattie, Pritchard & Pritchard’s director of operations, with Radmat’s Mark Harris as chairman. Since its official status has been acquired the GRO code has been released and is the UK’s leading industry guidance on the installation and maintenance of Green Roof Systems. Download GRO guidance on best practice green roofing here.
World Green Roof Day (WGRD) was created to celebrate all types of living roofs (green roofs, brown roofs and blue roofs) worldwide and publicise the wide-ranging benefits of living roofs. WGRD takes place every year on 6th June.
Why not join GRO and join the green roof leaders of the UK? With training opportunities and many more member benefits it is the place to connect with leaders in the green roof industry and stay up to date with green roof guidance and legislation. Join here.
