Wire Trellis has been installed to surround this multi-storey car park in Winchester. The Pritchard and Pritchard installation team have supported MMA Architectural with this project. The trellis will support the upwards journey of the climbing plants which have been planted at the base of the project to develop and grow over the months and years ahead.
The use of stainless-steel bar-and-wire-rope system rather than the wooden trellis used by our forebears, enables us to cover vast and unsightly façades with climbers, benefiting both the building and the environment.

A variety of climbing plants and shrubs have been put in place including:
Berberidoopsis Coralina, Hedera Helx, Holboellia Coriacea, Lonicera Japonica Halliana, Lonicera Pericynenum
These fast growing plants will create a natural living wall supported by wire trellis.
For clients seeking the multiple benefits of living walls with a less demanding maintenance schedule climbing plants and wire trellis offer the perfect solution.

This natural living wall will boost localised biodiversity, improve air quality in the car park when the plants have developed and provide a habitat for local nesting wildlife.
Aesthetically the building structure will ulitimatly appear to be ‘clad’ in plants – a much more visually appealing proposition than grey concrete.
