Residential Green Roof Littlehampton

You are here: Pritchard & Pritchard / Case studies / Living roof / Residential Green Roof Littlehampton

This certainly is a living roof with a stunning view!  Located in Littlehampton on the South Coast this project comprises of 60m2 of living roof installed by the Pritchard and Pritchard team of experts.

The roof is an extensive green roof, typically these comprise of self-sustaining, low-growing plants, which are frost and drought tolerant, such as mosses, succulents, herbs and grasses, with bulbs and tubers.

The Zinco living roof system was specified at this project.

The most commonly used plants on extensive green roofs are sedums, as used here.  Sedum is an ideal plant in coastal locations its waxy leaves prevent the plant from absorbing salt, making it an excellent choice at this location.

Studies of the oldest living roof installations have shown sedum to be the most enduring plants.

The sedum layer has been specified in sections across the horizontal areas, and is fitted perfectly around roof lights for the perfect finish.

Sedum is a low maintenance plant, meaning that bi-annual checks of this living roof will be sufficient to ensure everything is well established and working well.

If you would like to bring plants to your roof and benefit from improved local biodiversity and reduced household bills – get in touch with our team for a free consultation – our green-roofing experts have been installing all types of green roof since 2003 we can help to recommend the best option for your project.
