Installation of the modular green wall system
Double-sided living wall, Westfield Shopping Centre, Shepherd’s Bush 2018
- Westfield, in Shepherds Bush, London is Europe’ largest retail destination, with 477 shops and 31.2 million annual visits.
- Pritchard & Pritchard, working with Urban Planters, installed and planted a network of green walls measuring 1,400m2.
- The walls were double sided, requiring shade tolerant plants on the inside and sun-lovers on the outfacing wall.
- In total P&P planted 35,000 plants housed in planters set at 45 degrees to the wall.
- Plants included varieties of Ferns, Carex, Bergenia, Hebe, Hellebore, Pittosporum, Rosemary, Nepeta, Euphorbia, Ajuga and Liriope.
- P&P installed the irrigation, feeding and drainage systems.
- The project was completed in 1018.
